How To Fix A Scratch On A Wood Floor

There are so many things you can make with walnuts.

There’s Waldorf Salad,

chicken salad,

banana bread and

zucchini bread.

There’s Baklava and

carrot cake.

And how about candied walnuts?!?

You can chop them and sprinkle them on French toast,

cinnamon buns and

ice cream Sundaes.

And who doesn’t love the crunchy texture of walnuts

in chocolate chip cookies?!

Yep, walnuts are a versatile little nut meat.

But my new favorite thing to do with walnuts

is a total game changer —

Did you know that

you can fix scratches on your wood floor with them??!

That’s right —

use walnuts to rub away scratches on wood floors!

Check out the before and after of our hardwood floors HERE

This is a scratch we got on our oak floor when we were moving cabinets around.

We were not very happy when we noticed this!

So here’s how to fix a scratch on a wood floor —

get some raw walnuts (the larger the pieces, the better)

grab a good sized piece and start rubbing it across and into the scratch. The walnut will break apart but just keep using the bigger pieces and rubbing until the scratch is all filled in.

When you’re done rubbing, use a clean cloth to wipe away the walnut crumbs and oil left on the floor

And…

you’re done!

Unless you get up really close and you know where the scratch was, you can’t even see it.

So here it is again —

Before

and After…

Like I said —

game changer!

Bonus tip:

You can also oil your butcher block and wood breadboards with walnuts! They’re perfect for food prep surfaces because they’re non-toxic and natural. Just put some in some cheesecloth and rub vigorously over the wood until the oil is spread evenly on the surface. Let it sit for a while for the oil to absorb and then wipe off the excess.
