How To Make Foaming Hand Soap
(this post contains affiliate links)
I’ve always been a hand-washer but
I think we’ve all been washing our hands more than ever
over the last couple of years, haven’t we??
So tell me —
what kind of hand soap do you like to use?
Liquid?
Foaming?
Scented?
Unscented?
Bar soap?
I’m a scented foaming hand soap kind of girl.
Call me lazy
but there’s just something I like
about having the soap squirt into my hand already sudsy!
And I love a good-smelling soap.
I’ve always bought my foaming hand soap in plastic bottles and then thrown them in the recycling once they were empty.
But a few weeks ago,
I started thinking about how much I was spending on soap that was mostly water
and how many plastic containers I was going through — yikes!
There’s got to be a better way!
And there is!
Did you know you can make your own foaming hand soap??
HERE’ S HOW TO MAKE FOAMING HAND SOAP
First, you need a foaming soap dispenser.
I got this one on Amazon
It’s got a nice heavy glass base and the pump works well. The trick to foaming hand soap is you need to buy a foaming soap dispenser.
The pump has a little air chamber that other soap dispensers don’t have. This chamber forces air into the soap as it’s pumped out which is what makes it foamy.
INGREDIENTS
Water
4 tablespoons Castile soap
1 teaspoon liquid coconut oil
10 - 20 drops essential oil in desired scent(s)
Optional: 1 teaspoon vegetable glycerin
MAKE THE SOAP
Fill your soap dispenser about 3/4 full with water.
Add 4 TBSP Castile soap
Add 1 tsp liquid coconut oil
Add essential oil drops
Add 1 tsp glycerin
Screw the pump on to the base and gently blend everything together.
And now you have foaming hand soap!
This foaming hand soap is so smooth and creamy, you don’t need to add water to wash your hands. Which means you’ll save water. Just lather up, wash for 20 seconds and rinse!
And your hands will feel smooth and moisturized when you’re done!
