10 Reasons Why I Love White Rooms
(this post contains affiliate links)
What is it about white rooms
That makes me love them so much??
I asked myself that question the other day,
Trying to figure out why I’m so drawn to this absence of color.
A few years ago,
All the accents in my home were violet
And if you had asked me then,
I would have said that was my favorite color.
And when I was about 10, my favorite color was red.
My room was wrapped in cherry red
From the carpet
To the bedspread and pillows
To the red light bulb in my ceiling fixture
(which my step-father strongly disapproved of, and I didn’t get the reason why until a few years later when I came to understand what a red light means…yikes!)
But today, I’m all about white!
So, wanting (needing?) an answer to why I’m so drawn to white in my house (and other people’s homes),
I did some research on the psychology of white rooms
And here’s what I found:
1. White is the color of wholeness, completion and perfection.
2. White clears your mind. It’s a blank slate that allows you to be creative.
3. White makes us feel good. It’s the presence of light.
4. White rooms feel clean and fresh.
5. It creates peace and calm.
6. White gives us a feeling of relaxation.
7. The color white clears visual clutter.
8. It creates the illusion of space.
9. White creates a sense of order
10. And it’s the color of new beginnings.
Now I get it!
PS I will be adding some color to my rooms soon with pillows, rugs and accessories — they’re still a work in progress…
