That I am all about

A tidy, clean house.

Which is kind of hard to pull off

But hey,

I try!

So today when I had just about had enough of all the dusty, grungy stuff that I can’t seem to get clean, I grabbed a bunch of it and I loaded up the old Kenmore

And — Wow — who knew??

Now I already knew about some things you can clean in the dishwasher

like kitchen sponges, dish brushes and the microwave turntable.

But have you ever tried to clean the trays and paper clip holders in your office by hand??

My printer’s paper tray looks like this. There’s no amount of canned compressed air that’s going to get all the dust out of there. (BTW — who designed this thing that just begs dust to collect???)

And how about this little office caddy?

Hello dishwasher!

And then there’s soap dishes and toothbrush holders…

Yep! I loaded ‘em all up in the dishwasher and ran it through a 1-hour cycle.

(Of course, never put anything with metal or electronic parts in the dishwasher!)

Everything came out sparkling clean!

Only the front half of the printer output tray was detachable so the back half still is full of dust - gonna have to try to clean it by hand…

HERE ARE SOME OTHER THINGS YOU CAN CLEAN IN THE DISHWASHER:

Refrigerator Shelves and Drawers

Silverware Trays

Bath Sponges and Loofahs

Silicone Oven Mitts

Plastic Appliance Knobs

Plastic Kid and Pet Toys

Small Trash Cans

Golf Balls (in a mesh bag)

Toothbrushes

Hairbrushes (remove all the hair first)

Dog Collars and Leashes (nothing leather)

Keys (not electronic keys)

Glass Flower Vases

Plastic Switch Plates and Outlet Covers (make sure they’re completely dry before putting back up)

Glass Globes and Shades From Light Fixtures

Pet Food Bowls

Cup Holders From the Car

A FEW THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN PUTTING RANDOM STUFF IN THE DISHWASHER:

  • Your dishwasher has a heating element in the bottom. You don’t want to put things that might melt on the bottom rack — only the top.

  • Place small items in a mesh bag to keep them from falling into the bottom of the machine

  • Never put anything electronic in your dishwasher.

  • No wood, aluminum or metal that will rust should go in there either.

So look around your house and I bet you can find a few load-fulls of random things to put in that magic box in your kitchen that will come out looking brand new!
