Simple Christmas Decorating

I’m all about simple around here.
Maybe it’s because my house isn’t finished yet
but, truth?
I just like my house uncluttered,
even at Christmas time.
I just like simple Christmas decorating
all around the house.
So when I decorated my entryway for the holidays,
I didn’t go all-out and over the top.
I kept it subtle —
an evergreen tree, some stockings, fairy lights and a simple rustic sign.
I made this sign from some pallet wood I had used for something else.
Remember this project?
Well, the plants only lasted about 4 months so we took it down and put up floating box shelves. You can read about those HERE.
So when I needed some wood for this project, I took a couple of pieces of the wood from that and used them for my sign. They already had a polyurethane finish on them so they were perfect.
I used self-adhesive letter stencils.
I wanted it to look very rustic and almost childlike so I didn’t worry about lining the letters up perfectly straight. And there was only 1 of each letter in upper and lower case so I mixed them up with some upper case and some lower case throughout. I also had to reuse a few of the letters, moving them to another spot once they had dried.
Then I dry-brushed them with a stencil pouncer.
I just used craft paint color Parchment
When they were done, I just leaned them up on the ledge in the entryway and strung some fairy lights under them.
So now my simple Christmas decorating in the entryway is done
and it’s all ready to welcome in the holidays!
