Simple Christmas Decorating

‘Yes we need a little Christmas, right this very minute
Hasn’t snowed a single flurry
But Santa dear, we’re in a hurry
… For we need a little music
Need a little laughter
Need a little singing, ringing through the rafter
And we need a little snappy
Happy ever after
Need a little Christmas now’
I think this year, probably more than any other, that’s how we’re all feeling right about now
We need a little Christmas right this very minute!
I know a lot of people who already have their trees up and have totally decorated their homes for Christmas.
And I say ‘Yes!! Go for it!’
We need a little Christmas!
But what if you’re in the middle of a remodel??
And your house looks like this?
And this??
Should I just skip the Christmas decorating altogether??
I don’t think so!
Or what if you’re not ready to go all Clark Grizwold just yet?
Well here’s what I’m doing…
I’m taking it slow
And putting up little touches here and there
Of simple Christmas decorating
In the finished areas of my home
One of my favorite looks right now are simple, subtle wreaths
In the bedroom I just added a little fresh juniper to the grapevine wreath
And it’s instant Christmas!
And I made a really simple wreath out of a ring from a tomato cage, some jute twine and sprigs of juniper
And the entry wall looks like it’s ready for the party
And as other areas get completed (I’ve requested that the living room be done by Thanksgiving weekend!)
Then I’ll add a little simple Christmas decorating in those areas too!
I’ve always said that living in a remodel is not for sissies
But the holidays are extra hard
Because I want so badly to decorate and make it beautiful
But how do you decorate rooms that are under construction??
Well, I’ve got a few ideas
So stay tuned
