Christmas Song Lyrics Decor
You know, the letters you see on every toddler’s refrigerator?
I’ve always loved the hap-hazard way littles make words with those magnetic letters — a rainbow of colors, upper case mixed into words with lower case, 7’s turned upside down to make L’s — their innocent creativity is so inspiring.
So, a while back I went on a search for a mix of letters that I could turn into a display of a song lyric that I have always loved from Joy to the World: Let every heart prepare him room.
To make it easy, when I first started looking, I made a list of all the letters and the amount of each that I would need. And as I found one, I marked it off of my list so I would know exactly what I had and what I still needed to find.
I scoured antique flea markets, junk stores and Etsy. I also made a few letters of my own to fill in here and there.
Once I had all my letters, putting them together was pretty straightforward — I just placed them next to each other to spell out each word in my phrase.
My entry ledge is the perfect place for me to perch my display, but really, any level surface would work — think bookshelves, buffets, and mantels.
I cut out letters from old signs..
I found vintage church sign letters..
I needed 5 ‘E’s total, so I used upside down ‘3’s in a couple of places.
I used brass stencils..
plastic marquee letters..
aluminum mailbox letters..
glass church sign letters..
house numbers, antique milk glass letters and even an antique ornament!
This project is so easy and fun to do!
