Loren's Bedroom
Loren moved into her room In October. But we just got it all finished in January.
It feels like I blinked and 3 months flew by!
When she moved in it was just bare bones. We still had a lot to do to get it completely done.
We had to find furniture and bedding. And renovate her cabinet. And paint a table, a chair and a dresser. And put up some curtains. And make her pinboard wall panels. And order a fireplace…
It feels really good to finally have it all done for her.
And she loves it.
It’s super cozy and she has everything she needs.
It can get a little chilly in there so we got this cute little electric fireplace/heater to keep her warm and toasty.
Here’s the view from the other side of the room.

The door to the left of the cabinet goes to her bathroom.

Loren loves all things WWE, Country Music and family photos. So we wanted to give her a space to pin up anything she wants on her walls. We cut a piece of soundboard into 3 pieces, covered them with linen fabric and mounted them to the wall. Now she has lots of room to put up whatever she wants and we don’t have to worry about the walls being ruined.
I’ve had this dark table for about 25 years. Whoever re-finished it before I got it didn’t do a very good job.
I originally wanted to do a pickled finish on it but was only able to do it on the top and had to paint the legs. (More about that in another post.) But I think it turned out pretty cute.
I found this little dresser at Goodwill for $10.00. It’s a good quality Bassett piece. A couple of the handles were broken. And someone had screwed a carved wood panel to the back of the top of it. I removed the wood panel. And painted it. And Mr. Redoux made new pulls for the broken handles and — ta-da!! — it has a new life.
Then the last thing we did was put up some simple sheer drapery panels.
They just soften the whole room.
When I said ‘simple sheer drapes’, I meant the panels themselves are plain and simple. The installation, however, was a nightmare. Putting those up took a few days. You can see in the before photo that the corner of the window is hard to deal with — there’s no place to mount anything where the two windows meet in the middle. So we had to modify the two rods so they go around the corner at a 90-degree angle. It took some thought and planning to figure out just exactly how we were going to do it. We went and got pipe fittings and Mr. Redoux cut and welded the fittings to the brackets to mount it to the wall. Then the whole thing got covered up by the drapes, so it’s all good.
Loren’s grateful that her talented dad saved the day again!
And she couldn’t be happier in her new room.
