Tips On How To Be Organized

Spring is the perfect time to get organized!
I don’t know if you can tell this about me but
I’m a very organized person.
I love my home to be neat, clean,
orderly and organized.
Are you this way too?
Well if you’re not, but would like to be, I have 3 quick tips on how to be organized:
1. GET RID OF CLUTTER
The number one enemy of organization is clutter. It’s impossible to stay organized when there’s too much stuff. The less you have, the easier it is to organize it, so it’s critical that you only keep things you absolutely need and actually use.
(If you need a little kick-start, HERE are some tips on how to get rid of clutter.)
2. MAKE A ‘HOME’ FOR EVERYTHING IN YOUR HOME
You know that old saying, ‘a place for everything and everything in its place’? Well, that’s the secret to being organized. It really is as simple as that.
Make a designated place for every item that you own.
Use baskets, bins, decorative boxes, dividers, pegboards, drawers and files to keep similar items all grouped together. And also make a designated place for items that need to be donated, repaired or returned.
In the kitchen, use adjustable dividers in your utensil drawer to separate your spatulas from the big spoons from the tongs.
In the pantry, use risers, bins and lazy susans to keep like items together and to maximize your usable space.
Use dividers and trays to keep your junk drawer and bathroom drawers organized
Fold your clothes vertically (the Marie Kondo way) and use these bins to keep them organized in your dresser or closet.
And don’t forget your jewelry!
If your storage bins are cute enough they don’t have to go in a closet or in a cabinet — your stuff can hide in plain sight!
For a totally pulled-together look, make sure all your baskets, boxes and bins match.
3. PUT IT AWAY RIGHT AWAY
Then there’s the second part of that saying, ‘…everything IN its place’. I think this is the key to keeping things organized and tidy — always put things away right away.
As soon as things pile up, you start to lose control over being organized.
Sort your mail when you bring it into the house — junk mail goes right into the shredder and bills get filed in a file according to the date they need to be paid. (Or better yet, sign up for paperless billing.)
If you get something out to use — put it back in its place as soon as you’re finished with it. Resist the urge to set it down ‘until later’. Even if it’s out of your way — put it back — a few extra steps never hurt anybody!
If you buy something new, hang it up right away. When you take off your clothes put them away or in the dirty laundry.
If you follow these 3 basic tips on how to be organized, I promise your home will always be tidy, orderly and peaceful.
